Week 10: Maps!

I love maps! This week we’re going to be creating maps, and thinking about what they can do for historical analysis.

First, read this blog post about maps, and play around with the things in it.

Response: As mentioned in the blog post, your response is to draw a map of your surroundings. See the blog post for more details. (Submission form here.)

Participation: Find a map in the Digital Public Library of America and post it in the #discussion channel, along with a few sentences about what you think the map is trying to say about history—in other words, what is the map’s argument?

Finally, Creative Project 2 is all about combining the work you did with time last week, and the work we did of thinking about space this week. You’re going to be creating a narrative map—a map that tells a story. Here’s the brief.
