This week we’re getting down to it: writing the script. Two things you need to do this week in addition to your class stuff:
- Revise your grade contract, along the lines that I outlined in my message to you on Slack. Send it to me via email or DM on Slack by April 5.
- In the Basecamp message board, sign up as a team for a conference time to meet with me this week on Wednesday or Thursday.
Monday
Your mission:
- Listen to our podcast episode for this week.
-
Create a new Google Doc with your collaborators for your script. (Make sure you share it with my Gmail address!)
-
Start to draft your show! Start with your storyboard; put the outline in and then flesh out the ideas. I do want you to write out a full script; we’ll talk later about how to read a script and sound natural too.
-
Make sure you’re already thinking about what you can incorporate besides one person’s voice. How are you going to balance two or more co-hosts? Are you going to use sound effects or mood music? (We’ll talk later about where to get sound effects. You should reach out to your composer about what kind of mood music you might want.)
Goal for this week: get the body of your episode drafted by next Monday (April 5).
Wednesday
-
No recording! For this class period, you’re meeting with me as individual teams.
-
I found this document from the Centers for Disease Control, of all places, about writing a script–you may recognize some of the things in this document that I also said in our Monday episode! Give it a read.
-
I’ve set up a check-in question on our Basecamp site. Every Monday and Wednesday, Basecamp is going to ask you about your work. Please answer! (This means you need to check the Basecamp site!)
