Monday, March 23: Producing a Podcast
- Check in on Slack at some point today so I know you’re ok and you’ve seen the plan. (Just say hi in the #week8 channel.)
- Listen to this (interactive!) podcast and answer the questions posed in Slack.
-
Questions about the podcast beginnings:
- What are the elements of this beginning? (intro to topic, intro of speakers, music, etc.)
- Which of these elements is the most important?
- How is music being used?
- What mechanism is used to get you to want to keep listening?
- How long does it take to get you to that tipping point?
- Do you want to keep listening?
- Other observations?
-
Check in with your partner today about where you stand with research for your episode.
-
After you’ve completed everything, tell me how your first day of online learning went in the #online-learning channel on Slack.
Wednesday, March 25: Storyboarding a Podcast
- Check in on Slack at some point today–post a meme in the #random channel that illustrates how you’re feeling today.
- Set up a Google Doc with your partner and include me in the sharing.
- Listen to this podcast episode and answer the Slack questions.
- In your Google Doc, write down these things. You don’t have to write the full text of these parts yet; we’re just outlining.
- Identify the key points of your story.
- What is the main point you want to convey?
- What are the parts of the story that help convey this main point?
- Think about Alex’s guidance that you should do something new every 45 to 90 seconds. Where are the surprising breaks in your story?
- Where are you going to take breaks from just reading? Where can you put primary sources? Musical or sound effects?
- Identify the key points of your story.
