This week we’re learning about the mechanics of recording. We’re dealing with a few special challenges: mostly, the challenge that we’re all working from our home studios! But the principles of good audio are the same no matter where you are.
Monday
No podcast today! Don’t forget our synchronous class, starting at 10:45. Check the Slack group for the WebEx link.
Wednesday
- Instead of having anything to listen to for this week, we’re just going to jump in on recording. Sign up for a time for your team to meet with me and give your podcast a first go. We may have to do it more than once, but maybe not! To prepare, here’s what you need to do:
- Get your outline done and have your primary sources at the ready; you don’t have to read them out loud during our session but you’ll need to know how to talk about them.
- A few minutes before your session, do this NPR training, “Three Tips for Training Your Voice” (I’m not joking! Some of you tend toward some of the vocal problems outlined in this video, and this will help. I do these before I record anything.)
- Check in with your partner.
